####################### # PUBLIC RELEASE 1998 # ####################### JET_33131_com.dat ITER Profile Database: datasets prepared by Pam Stubberfield, Bernard Balet JET, August 1998 JET shot 33131 is an ELMy H-mode shot obtained in the new JET pump divertor configuration. This pulse ( 3.1T, 2.8MA ) is part of a series of rho* scaling experiments relevant for ITER. Plasma is deuterium. The plasma is in a single-null X-point configuration with the ion gradB drift pointing towards the X-point. Some 10.7MW of 80KV/D and 7.4MW of 140kV/D neutral beam heating is turned on at 54.5 secs. 18.1MW of total NBI power is maintained up to 56 secs, then 7.4MW of 140kV/D is maintained for a further second. RF heating is turned on at 52 secs to reach some 5-6MW between 53 secs and the onset of NBI; during NBI, RF power is down to ~2MW. The dataset files in this subdirectory were prepared from TRANSP run H919 taking into account the up-down asymmetry of the plasma, run by B.Balet on 14 August 1998 on the ROSS batch workstation based on JET shot 33131 taken on 19 December 1994. All these files have been prepared according to the Standard list of Variables and File Format manual by D.Boucher (4 May 1998). These have only been modified slightly to run on the JET TRANSP production UNIX workstation, to add 40 secs to all time axes and to include elongation and triangularity. There are 23 1-D Ufiles and 37 2-D Ufiles. 2-D profiles for Zeff and for the ICRH power deposition on both thermal electrons and ions have been added. In the file JET_33131_0d.dat data is given at 55.69 secs. At that time, there is 18.1MW of beam heating and 2.3MW of RF. The plasma is in a steady ELMy H-mode phase; however, the power level is only just above the threshold power for H-modes. Values for kappa and delta in the 0d, 1d and 2d files are from the TRANSP output derived from the boundary input definition provided by EFIT. kappa = (Zmax-Zmin)/(Rmax-Rmin): delta = (RGEO - R(Zmax))/a XPLIM is from XLOC ; SEPLIM is given by EFIT. PLTH is defined by WTH/TAUTH coming directly from TRANSP output and not as defined in the standard list of variables. The 1d files for IP,VSURF and IBOOT have negative values as normal for JET. Some comments on this particular TRANSP run H919: 25ms analysis time resolution: VMEC equilibrium LEVGEO = 6 Up-down asymmetric boundary definition obtained from the EFIT program No sawteeth events are taken into account in the simulation Ti profile from CX measurements is provided. Te profile vs. radius is from the ECE measurements. Ne profile vs. radius is from LIDAR measurements, mapped on the outer half of the plasma midplane. 2D radiation profile is used in the analysis. Rotation velocity profile from CX measurements is provided. Zeff profile from CX measurements is provided. impurity species assumed to be carbon Edge ptcl confinement time is set to 1s. Bootstrap current on ; impose q(0) = 1.1 to start Neoclassical beam driven current The simulated values for W_dia and for the neutron yield in run H919 both agree well with the measured ones at 55.69 secs.
