Tokamak: D3D Contact person: C.M. Greenfield, E.J. Doyle Institution: General Atomics, UCLA Date of shot: April 27, 2001 Analysis code(s): TRANSP, EFIT, GAPROFILES Run number: 106956A05, EFIT04 Date of analysis: December 20, 2007 Assumption made for analysis: Impurity and main ion properties from CER carbon measurements. Nickel and copper from SPRED and visible Brehmstrahhlung measurements and MIST simulations. ** Unless otherwise noted, quoted rotation is for carbon impurity ** Shot description, purpose of the experiment: Quiescent Double Barrier regime High performance/high power/high current Unlike other QDB discharges, qmin is slightly above 1 and there is a global MHD mode instead of the usual Edge Harmonic Oscillation. Global mode does not have significant impact on core performance and modulates particle transport near the edge like the EHO. Impurity included in TRANSP run: MULTIPLE At t=3.000s, Zeff=4.09 and the average Z of impurities is Zimp=6.39 (may include impurities other than the principle impurity). Publication: E.J.
