JET_33131_com.dat = comments file for ITPA WDB Profile Database submission Tokamak: JET Pulse number: 33131 Shot description, purpose of the shot: ELMy H-mode with high gas fueling Contact persons: Robert Budny, Jef Ongena, Xavier Garbet Institution: EFDA-JET Date of shot: 19941218 Time of interest = 15.69s (55.69s in JET PPF time) for steady state Analysis codes: TRANSP and EFIT (for plasma boundary) Run number: 33131C28 at PPPL Date of analysis: 20080319 TRANSP run by Robert Budny (budny@princeton.edu) This is a resubmission correcting QICRHE and QICRHI Additional information: JET shot 33131 is an ELMy H-mode shot obtained in the new JET pump divertor configuration. This pulse ( 3.1T, 2.8MA ) is part of a series of rho* scaling experiments relevant for ITER. Plasma is deuterium. The plasma is in a single-null X-point configuration with the ion gradB drift pointing towards the X-point. Some 10.7MW of 80KV/D and 7.4MW of 140kV/D neutral beam heating is turned on at 54.5 secs. 18.1MW of total NBI power is maintained up to 56 secs, then 7.4MW of 140kV/D is maintained for a further second. RF heating is turned on at 52 secs to reach some 5-6MW between 53 secs and the onset of NBI; during NBI, RF power is down to ~2MW. In the file JET_33131_0d.dat data is given at 15.69 secs. At that time, there is 18.1MW of beam heating and 2.3MW of RF. The plasma is in a steady ELMy H-mode phase; however, the power level is only just above the threshold power for H-modes. The direction of the toroidal field and plasma current were in the normal JET direction - clockwise viewed from above. In jet_33131_2d.dat the deuterium density is stored in NM1, trace H in NM2, and trace T in NM3. NM4 contains the carbon density being the majority impurity species. Values for kappa and delta in the 0d, 1d and 2d files are from the TRANSP output derived from the boundary input definition provided by EFIT. kappa = (Zmax-Zmin)/(Rmax-Rmin); delta = (RGEO - R(Zmax))/a XPLIM and SEPLIM from XLOC as defined in the standard list of variables. The 1d files for IP,VSURF and IBOOT have negative values as normal for JET. Some comments on this particular TRANSP run 33131 25ms analysis time resolution - VMEC equilibrium LEVGEO = 6 No sawteeth events are taken into account in the simulation Up-down asymmetric boundary definition obtained from the EFIT program Ti, v_phi, and Z_eff profiles from CX measurements. Te and Ne profiles vs. radius is from LIDAR measurements. Edge recycling and gas puffing used for particle balance to compute particle fluxes. The TRANSP run 33131C21 gives a simulated W_dia 15% lower than the measured and a simulated neutron yield is 10% below the measured rate.
