JET_37379_com.dat ITER Profile Database; datasets prepared by Pam Stubberfield, April 1997 JET shot 37379 is an ELMy H-mode shot obtained in the new JET pump divertor configuration. This pulse (1.0T,1.0MA) is part of a series of rho* scaling experiments relevant for ITER. Plasma is deuterium. The plasma is in a single- null X-point configuration with the ion gradB drift pointing towards the X-point. 5.5MW of 140KV/D neutral beam heating is turned on at 60 secs. This drops to 4.7 MW at 62.5 secs. Beam heating finally ceases at 65.0 secs. The dataset files in this subdirectory were prepared from TRANSP run M010 taking into account the up-down asymmetry of the plasma, run by Bernard Balet on 10 December 1996 on the IBM JAC-2 RS6000 workstation based on JET shot 37379 taken on 9 July 1996. All these files have been prepared according to the Standard list of Variables and File Format manual by D.Boucher (7 December 1995). Tools to produce these files from a TRANSP run were provided by Stan Kaye of PPPL. These have only been modified slightly to run on the RS6000 UNIX workstation and to add 40 secs to all time axes. There are 23 1-D Ufiles and 34 2-D Ufiles. All beam related quantities (energy, particle sources, currents etc) have been smoothed to suppress Monte-Carlo noise. In the 2d file the deuterium density is stored in NM1. In the file JET_37379_0d.dat data is given at 63.385 secs. At that time, there is 4.7MW of beam heating and the plasma is in a steady ELMy H-mode phase. Values for kappa and delta in the 0d, 1d and 2d files are from the TRANSP output derived from the boundary input definition provided by EFIT. kappa = (Zmax-Zmin)/(Rmax-Rmin); delta = (RGEO - R(Zmax))/a XPLIM is from XLOC ; SEPLIM is given by EFIT. PLTH is defined by WTH/TAUTH coming directly from TRANSP output and not as defined in the standard list of variables. The 1d files for IP,VSURF and IBOOT have negative values as normal for JET. Some comments on this particular TRANSP run M010; 25ms analysis time resolution; VMEC equilibrium LEVGEO = 6 Up-down asymmetric boundary definition obtained from the EFIT program No sawteeth events are taken into account in the simulation Ti profile from CX measurements is provided. Te profile vs. radius is from LIDAR measurements. Ne profile from LIDAR , scaled by FIR interferometer measurements 1D total radiation is used in the analysis. Rotation velocity profile from CX measurements is provided. 1D Zeff from visible bremsstrahlung measurements, Zimp = 5.8 Edge ptcl confinement time is set to 1s. Bootstrap current on NLBOOT = T ; impose q(0) = 1.1 to start Neoclassical beam driven current The TRANSP simulation in run M010 results in a predicted W_dia within 0.1 MJ of the measured value. The simulated neutron yield is 13% higher than measured value at 63.385 secs.
