jet_52096_com.dat = comments file for ITPA WDB Profile Database submission Tokamak: JET Pulse number: 52096 Shot description, purpose of the shot: ELMy H-mode with off-axis ICRH and Te > Ti Contact persons: Robert Budny, Jef Ongena, Xavier Garbet Institution: EFDA-JET Date of shot: 20021013 Time of interest = 7.3s (47.3s in JET PPF time) for steady state Analysis codes: TRANSP, EFIT for plasma boundary TRANSP RunID - 52096C03 done at PPPL, available on mdsplus Date of analysis: 20080319 by Robert Budny(budny@princeton.edu) This is a resubmission adding PRES Assumptions for analysis: Up/down asymmetric boundary given by EFIT. Ti, toroidal rotation, Z_eff profiles from CX measurements between 5 and 11.9s and major radius = 2.95 to 3.80m (between x (sqrt. normalized toroidal flux)=0.15 and 0.9. Ti extrapolated to Te before x=0.15 and beyond x=0.9 Te profiles from ece sprctra and ne profiles from LIDAR measurements. Radiation profile from inversion of bolometry measurements. Additional information: Pulse 52096 was conducted under the ELMy H-mode Physics Task Force (S1) (Ref4.2) to investigate stiff and non-stiff profiles. The Greenwald fraction reached ).50 briefly (9.7-9.9s). The upper and lower triangularities of the boundary were approximately 0.255 and 0.338. The elongation of the boundary was approximately 1.70 The plasma current was 2.8 MA and the toroidal field was 2.85 T. The auxilliary heating consisted of off-axis, H-minority ICRH starting at 5.5s with 9.0MW, and ramping down to zero between 11 and 14s. The frequencies in the four antenna were about 42 MHz. The spacial grid used for modeling the ICRH with the SPRUCE package was doubled from the default to 256 radial nodes and 128 poloidal nodes to improve the resolution of the off-axis resonance. The D-NBI was 3.9MW, starting at 5s, then reduced to 2.2MW from 12 to 14.6s. The TRANSP run gives a simulated W_dia about 30% lower than the measured value. The simulated neutron rate is 0-20% low. This descrepancy could be due to Z_eff being too low or Ti being too high. The direction of the toroidal field and plasma current were in the normal JET direction - clockwise viewed from above. All calculations have been done on a 50 zone radial grid rather than the normal 20 grid. Most quantities have been smoothed to suppress statistical noise. In the jet_52096_2d.dat file D is stored in NM1 and trace T in NM2. The carbon impurity is in NM3. In the file jet_52096_0d.dat data is given at 7.3 secs. XPLIM is from XLOC ; SEPLIM is given by EFIT. DELTA is the average of the upper and lower triangularities. and not as defined in the standard list of variables.
